2015 MEN’S SOCCER SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

PETERSBURG, Va. – The Richard Bland College men's soccer head coach Eduardo de Souza announced his squad's 2015 schedule Wednesday. The Statesmen will take on two NCAA teams including an exhibition contest to start the season versus Averett University following Johnson & Wales.

 

The challenging schedule not only features two teams from the NCAA DIII and DII but also an NAIA institution in Bluefield College (Bluefield, VA). The schedule is also highlighted by 10 home fixtures at the Statesmen Soccer Field.

 

The 2015 regular season opens with the Statesmen hosting two home games on Aug 22 and Aug 23 against Region X foe USC Lancaster (Lancaster, SC) at 1 p.m. and Union County College on Sunday at 2 p.m.

 

The Statesmen then makes a trip over to Bluefield College on Aug. 26. The matchup will be the first time both teams will meet in program history. Following the trip to Danville, Richard Bland will travel to Region X foe Patrick Henry Community College for a 2 p.m. start on Aug. 29.

 

RBC will welcome Spartanburg Methodist (Spartanburg, SC) on Aug. 31 for a 4 p.m. in a Region X tip-off before hosting conference foe Wake Technical Community College (Raleigh, NC) at 4 p.m. on Sept. 2. The Statesmen split the series with the Eagles during the 2014 campaign as RBC earned its first win on the season 2-1 on Aug. 22, 2014 but dropped the last meeting 3-1 on Oct. 19, 2014.

 

Richard Bland will continue its conference play when they travel to Cape Fear (Wilmington, NC) on Sept. 5. RBC next takes on USC Salkehatchie (Allendale, SC) on Statesmen Field (Sept. 13), following a road trip to Spartanburg Methodist (Sept. 19) before hosting three home games against Patrick Henry (Sept. 24), Harcum College (Sept. 24) and Louisburg (Sept. 30).

 

The Statesmen will face Johnson & Wales (NCAA – DII) at home on Oct. 4 for its last non-conference contest on the year. Richard Bland will hit the road for the next three matches beginning with USC Salkehatchie (Oct. 10), USC Lancaster (Oct. 11) and Wake Tech (Oct. 16).

 

For its home finale, the Statesmen will host Cape Fear on Oct. 21 before traveling to Louisburg on Oct. 25 to close out the regular season.

 

The Region X Championship will begin Oct. 30 on the campus sites with the semifinals Oct. 31 and finals Nov. 1 taking place at Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville, Va.
