SOCCER TRAVELS TO HARCUM COLLEGE FOR SUNDAY CONTEST

PETERSBURG, Va., (Sept. 26 2015) – The Richard Bland College men's soccer team will play four of its next six games away from the friendly confines of Statesmen Field, and the road travels begin on Sunday with a 4:30 p.m. non-conference game against Pennsylvania-based Harcum College. 

The 475-mile trip to Bryn Mawr, PA. will take five hours one way, offering the Statesmen little time to do any sightseeing through the five states (Washington, D.C., Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania) the bus route travels. Once at the suburban Main Line Philadelphia campus, Richard Bland faces a Bears team that looks to snap a three-game losing streak.

LAST GAME VS. HARCUM COLLEGEPlayed last September 22 at Richard Bland … The teams played a see-saw game that was tied 3-3 at intermission … Harcum's sophomore forward Any Soto scored the game winner with 11 minutes remaining in the contest … The hard-luck loss had a silver lining, as then-freshman Eduardo Quintanilla (San Salvador, El Salvador/Stonewall Jackson) scored two first half goals.  

WHAT'S NEXT: The Statesmen return to Statesmen Field on Sept. 30 for the first of two games against Region X leading Louisburg College at 4 p.m. … Harcum remains at home for a 3:30 p.m. contest against Rowan College at Gloucester County.  

LAST TIME OUT VS. PATRICK HENRY: Statistically, Richard Bland dominated play against Patrick Henry Community College on Thursday afternoon, but the visiting Patriots led 2-0 early, only to watch RBC tie the contest 2-2 on back-to-back goals by freshman forward Sukrija Dudic (Srebrenica, Bosnia Hercegovina/Hermitage) … PHCC took a 3-2 lead at the 56 minute mark, but with less than ten minutes to play, freshman center Jeffrey Pineda (Los Angeles, CA/ Lake Braddock Secondary School) tied the game at 3-3 forcing overtime … Neither team was able to score during two 10-minute overtime sessions, the Statesmen fending off Patrick Henry in the second while playing two men down due to red card penalties.  

FOR THE BEARS: Harcum has lost three straight to Mercer County College (4-0), Monroe County College (3-1) and Essex County College (3-2). 

FROM COACH EDUARDO DE SOUZA: "Sunday will be a tough game for our team. It's a long trip and we will be looking to rebound from Thursday's game with a different combination of players. There are no easy games, so we will need to be ready to play." 

NO. 3 IN DEFENDING THE GOAL: Freshman keeper Ciro Labrada (Guanajuto, Mexico/Stonewall Jackson) has made 64 saves this season, third best in the nation in NJCAA Division I. He tacked on four more saves on Thursday against PHCC. 

GOAL SCORINGNine different Statesmen players have scored this season, led by leading scorers Dudic and Baisel with ten and seven goals respectively … That duo accounts for 17 of the 30 goals RBC has scored this year … In recent national NJCAA Division I rankings, Dudic is in an eight-player tie for 23rd in the nation in scoring ... Baisel is the program's all-time leading scorer with 28 career goals, and his seven tallies this season are tied for 31st in the nation. 

OPPORTUNE SCORING: As a team, Richard Bland entered the week scoring 27 goals this season, which puts the Statesmen in a two-way tie for 26th in the nation … With 29 goals this season, Patrick Henry is in a two-way tie for 21st most goals.
