DUDIC'S TWO GOALS LEADS SOCCER TO 3-1 VICTORY OVER USC LANCASTER

DUDIC'S TWO GOALS LEADS SOCCER TO 3-1 VICTORY OVER USC LANCASTER

LANCASTER, SC (Oct. 11, 2015) -- For the second straight game, the Richard Bland College men's soccer team had an eye for the goal, and on Sunday afternoon against the University of South Carolina Lancaster, the Statesmen had an ample amount of shots and scored enough goals to ease into a 3-1 victory in Region X competition.

The Statesmen, who outshot USC Lancaster 17-3, making the weekend total over their South Carolina opponents 32-8, were buoyed by two important factors on Sunday. The first was that freshman forward Sukrija Dudic (Srebrenica, Bosnia Hercegovina/Hermitage) scored two goals, further establishing himself as one of the top players in the conference. Secondly, with a double overtime game on Saturday and a chance to spell some players who have logged a lot of minutes this season, virtually the entire RBC roster saw action against USC Lancaster.

With the victory, Richard Bland improves to 9-4-2, 6-3-2 in Region X competition. USC Lancaster drops to 1-13, 1-9. The Statesmen will resume action next Friday, Oct. 16 with a road contest against Wake Technical Community College. USC Lancaster hosts Region X-leading Louisburg College on Thursday, Oct. 15.

The Statesmen scored the first three goals of the contest, all coming in the first half. Sophomore Godfred Baisel (Cape Coast, Ghana/Patriot) tallied an unassisted goal at 23:21, adeptly working through the USC Lancaster defense. Four minutes later Dudic swiftly maneuvered around two USC Lancaster defenders and dropped his goal low and into the right corner of the net. Dudic scored his 13th goal of the season and pushed pushing the RBC lead to 3-0, off a free kick at 35:49.

USC Lancaster, which only managed three shots in the game, avoided being shutout when freshman midfielder Angel Guazo scored at the 67 minute mark.

"We played a solid game and it's good to get a win on the road," said Richard Bland head coach Eduardo de Souza. "I am happy we won, but I know we're capable of playing better. I expect us to be sharper next Friday against Wake, especially since this game allowed us to play a lot of players and get some of our regulars rest."
