Richard Bland Hosts Frederick CC Wednesday Afternoon

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. – Richard Bland College will host Frederick (Md.) Community College in non-conference men's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon, August 31, at Statesman Field beginning at 4 p.m.  The Statesmen (1-1-0) will be looking for their second win of the young season against the visiting Cougars (1-0-1).  Admission is free to all RBC men's soccer home matches.

Scouting the Statesmen
RBC is 1-1-0 overall, including 1-1-0 in Region X, after its 2-1 home setback to visiting Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.) College on August 28.  The Statesmen are coached by head coach Eduardo de Souza, who is in his third season, while assisted by first-year assistant coach Nick Surkamp.  RBC has been led in scoring through two matches by sophomores Sukrija Dudic/Richmond and Sebastian Hendi/Alexandria, and freshmen Reuben Bosompem/Alexandria and Eduardo Pessoa/Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, each with one goal.  Freshman Justin Ennis Gainesville has played 135 minutes in front of the net with a 1.33 goals against average and a .600 save percentage. 

Scouting the Cougars
FCC is 1-0-1 overall after its 3-2 home win past Union County (N.J.) College on August 25.  The Cougars are coached by head coach John LaRocca, who is in his first season, while assisted by Richard Forka and Cristian Mejia.  FCC has been led in scoring through two matches by freshman Carlos Torres with one goal and one assist.  Classmate Joseph Garner has played 200 minutes in front of the net with a 1.35 goals against average and an .864 save percentage.

Series History
This is the first-ever meeting between the two schools in the sport of men's soccer.

Last Time Out
RBC scored a late second-half goal but it was not enough against Spartanburg Methodist.  Eduardo Pessoa tallied the lone goal scored by the Statesmen in the 90th minute, assisted by classmate Finn Busse/Kiel, Germany.  Justin Ennis started and played the entire match in goal while making three saves and allowing the two goals.

RBC will play its first road match of the season at Cape Fear (N.C.) Community College on Saturday, September 3 at 4 p.m., before returning home to welcome defending NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer National Champion and Region X Conference opponent Louisburg College on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at Statesman Field at 4 p.m.
