Richard Bland Names Danny Torres Athlete of the Week

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. – Richard Bland College freshman men's soccer midfielder Danny Torres/Bucaramanga, Colombia has been named the Athletics Department's Athlete of the Week for the period September 6-12. He posted his first collegiate assist during a 3-2 road setback at Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.) College on Sept. 10. Torres made his first collegiate start against North Carolina Wesleyan College on Sept. 13, adding his second assist for the Statesmen (4-3) during a 5-0 home win. Through seven matches, he totals two assists for two points. He is studying toward an Associate in Science Degree in Business Administration and is in The Honors Program at Richard Bland College of William & Mary.

Q: How does it feel to be named RBC Athlete of the Week? 
DT: It is an honor because I always try to work hard to achieve great results.

Q: How did you get started in your sport and how long have you played? 
DT: I am from Colombia, so I started playing soccer when I was four years old.

Q: What do you like most about your team? 
DT: The familiarity and friendly atmosphere.

Q: Who is your funniest teammate/why? 
DT: Rueben (Bosompem). He is always talking, singing and dancing.

Q: Do you have any pregame rituals/superstitions? 
DT: Before games, I like to listen to salsa music and pray.

Q: What is your favorite place on campus/why? 
DT: The residence halls because I get to meet with my teammates and do my own activities.

Q: What is your favorite class/professor/why? 
DT: Macroeconomics because it is an interesting subject and I want to major in business administration.
