Richard Bland Falls At Nationally-Ranked No. 8 Louisburg 6-0

LOUISBURG, N.C. -- Richard Bland College dropped a 6-0 Region X Conference decision at nationally-ranked No. 8 Louisburg (N.C.) College on Wednesday evening in Louisburg, North Carolina. The visiting Statesmen (9-6-1, 6-6-1 Region X) were playing their final regular-season road contest against the host Hurricanes (14-2, 13-1 Region X). Richard Bland will play its final regular-season home match against Region X opponent USC Lancaster on Sunday, October 23, at 2 p.m. during Sophomore Day at Statesman Field.

"Louisburg was superior and they deserved to win today," said third-year head coach Eduardo de Souza.

Louisburg, the defending NJCAA Division I National Champions, scored three goals during each half against Richard Bland.

Freshman goalkeeper Justin Ennis/Gainesville started in front of the net for the Statesmen and played the entire 90 minutes, making four saves while allowing the six goals.

Louisburg took a 20-10 advantage in shots against Richard Bland, including 10-0 in attempts on goal. The Statesmen did have a 2-0 edge in corner kicks.

Richard Bland is now 6-3-1 in its last 10 matches, and will look to return to its winning ways at home against USC Lancaster on Sunday. The 10 Statesmen sophomores will be recognized during a special pre-game ceremony, beginning at approximately 1:45 p.m.

Richard Bland will play a Region X Tournament Quarterfinal match on Tuesday, Oct. 25 ... the opponent and location of the match, which could be at home on Statesman Field, yet to be determined.
