Richard Bland Names Hussein Osman Athlete of the Week

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College freshman men's soccer midfielder Hussein Osman/Charlottesville has been named the Athletics Department's Athlete of the Week for the period October 18-24. He scored two goals along with one assist during a 6-0 win at home past USC Lancaster on Oct. 23 in the regular-season finale. It was his first action in nearly three weeks as he had missed the previous three matches due to an injury. Osman has started nine of 12 matches for the Statesmen (10-6-1) with two goals and three assists for seven points. He will look to add to his scoring total when Richard Bland plays at USC Salkehatchie in a Region X Tournament Quarterfinal contest on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. in Allendale, South Carolina.

Q: How does it feel to be named Richard Bland Athlete of the Week?
HO: It feels good ... receiving this distinction shows that I'm on the right path to do great things and it motivates me to keep working hard.

Q: How did you get started in your sport and how long have you played?
HO: I have been playing sports since I can remember. I joined my first soccer team at the age of six and have been playing ever since.

Q: What do you like most about your team?
HO: I like being a part of all the diversity.

Q: Who is your funniest teammate/why?
HO: Duke (Dusan Stankovic), because he is really funny and takes a Snapchat picture almost every hour.

Q: Do you have any pregame rituals/superstitions?
HO: I always want to be the last person to step onto the field.

Q: What is your favorite place on campus/why?
HO: My room because my family (teammates) is always there with me.

Q: What is your favorite class/professor/why?
HO: Intro to Sport Management with Danish Saadat (Adjunct Instructor of Health Services, who also serves as the College's Coordinator of Athletics Development & Special Events and a Sports Performance Coach)
