Men's Soccer Improves to 3-0 With 5-0 Win Over USC Lancaster

LANCASTER, SC -- The Richard Bland College of William & Mary men's soccer team defeated USC Lancaster, 5-0, Saturday afternoon at USC Lancaster Soccer Field.
 
With the victory, the Statesmen improve to 3-0 on the season. Next up for Richard Bland is a highly-anticipated contest on the road against preseason Region X Conference regular season favorite Louisburg. Kickoff is set for 4 pm on September 6 at Louisburg Soccer Field.
 
The Statesmen scored two goals in the first half by freshman Nehemie Lamtoukou unassisted. Another freshman Antonio Ferreira's goal was assisted by Umar Majahid. The Statesmen followed up with three uncontested goals in the second half. Freshman Gorka Delgado's goal was assisted by Caleb Lilley. Freshman Caleb Harris' goal was assisted by Miguel Tirado. Tirado's goal was assisted by Domingos Vital.
 
In victory, the Statesmen notched their third consecutive shutout of the season. Sophomore goalie Almir Menezes played the first half and recorded with two saves. Freshman Aitor Ruiz played the second half and was untested.
 
"This concludes a very good weekend for the team, and our preparation must now focus on Louisburg who is nationally ranked and selected in the Region X preseason poll to win the regular season title," said first-year head coach Damien Westfield.
