In Tight Match, Men's Soccer Ends In Tie Against Louisburg

LOUISBURG, NC -- The Richard Bland College of William & Mary men's soccer team tied Louisburg 0-0 this afternoon at Louisburg Soccer Field.

With the result, the Statesmen improved to 3-0-1 on the season and maintained its fourth consecutive game not allowing a goal. The Statesmen next host USC Union at Statesman Soccer Field on Saturday, September 8 at 4 pm.

The Statesmen's sophomore goal keeper Almir Menes played the entire match and made three important saves to keep the game tied at 0-0 after double overtime.

"I am very proud of the players for playing together and battling to the end against a nationally ranked opponent in Louisburg," said head coach Damien Westfield. "After 90 minutes of play, the players found the energy and will to battle another 20 minutes of double overtime in the extreme heat weather. Credit to the players for their hard work and effort until the final whistle."
