Men's Soccer Upends USC Union, 13-0

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA --The Richard Bland College of William & Mary men's soccer team defeated USC Union is 13-0 this afternoon at Statesman Soccer Field

With the victory, the Statesmen improved to 4-0-1 on the season. The Statesman will host Cape Fear at the Statesman Soccer Field on 9/10/18 for a 4 pm kickoff.

In the first half, The Statesmen had goals from Sophomore Umar Mujahid, assisted by Sophomore Hector Rivera at the 36:16 minute; Freshman Brian Guerro, assisted by Sophomore Vandyke Gyau at 35:06; Sophomore Hector Rivera, assisted by Sophomore Umar Mujahid at 31:50; Freshman Gorka Delgado, assisted by Sophomore Hector Rivera at 29:57; Freshman Maximillian Schoebel, assisted by Freshman Henrique Eichenberger at 21:58; and Freshman Gorka Delgado, assisted by Freshman Caleb Lilley at 44:39.

The Statesman continued the goal scoring trend with another six unanswered goals in the second half. Freshman Mehdi Essabbar was fouled inside USC Union's 18 yard box for a penalty at 31:22 on the clock. He got up and slotted his shot to the right of USC Union's goal keeper to record his first goal of the season. Sophomore Umar Mujahid recorded his second goal of the match at 24:46 which was unassisted. He then completed his hattrick at 23:03 for his third goal of the match assisted by Freshman Antonio Ferreira. Freshman Domingos Vital received a through pass from Freshman Caleb Lilley and he calmly slotted his shot passed the USC Union's goal keeper at 19:01 on the clock. Freshman Caleb Lilley turned from provider to goal scorer when he scored his first goal of the season with less than 4 minutes left in the game. Freshman Brian Guerro scored the final goal for the Statesman at 3:09 remaining in regular time and he was assisted by Sophomore Hector Rivera.

The Statesmen maintained another clean sheet and will take this momentum into its home game against Cape Fear which will be another competitive contest.
