Men's Soccer Upends USC Lancaster

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA--The Richard Bland College of William & Mary men's soccer team defeated USC Lancaster 3-1 this afternoon at Statesmen Soccer Field.

With this victory, the Statesmen improved to 9-2-1 on the season. The Statesmen will travel to Patrick Henry tomorrow on October 6 for a 2pm kickoff.

In the first half, the Statesmen opened the scoring with a header from freshman David Comayagua. He guided freshman Henrigue Castelhano right sided cross, past the Lancaster's goalie to get the Statesmen their first goal. The Statesmen's second goal in the first half came off of a Lancaster's own player for a Statesmen goal for the 2-0 score in the first half.

In the second half, Lancaster pulled a goal back to make it a 2-1 game. However, the Statesmen regained their 2 goal lead when freshman Miguel Thomas received a through ball from Nehemie just outside the top of Lancaster's 18 yard box, before turning and firing a beautifully long ranged shot passed the goalie for a 3-1 lead. This score is how the game ended.
