Strong Finish Propels Men's Soccer into the Playoffs

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE. VA -- The Richard Bland College of William & Mary men's soccer team won 5-1 on Willcox Field in their final game of the regular season against Washington Adventist University on Thursday.

The Statesmen finish the season with a 14-2 record and will host a Region X playoff game sometime next week which the opponent is TBD. 

With the playoffs just around the corner, the Statesmen have continued to fight hard. In the first half, Brian Guerrero started RBC off with a goal which was assisted by Domingos Vital. Next, Nehemie Lamtoukou assisted Matthew Ridley for the second goal. Moses Mora also scored with an assist from Juan Menjivar to put the Statesmen over Washington Adventist 3-0 at half time. 

With another half to go, Antonio Ferreira scored with an assist from Gonzalo Bazan. For the fifth and final goal, both Bazan and Mora came back to put another one on the board. With the score at 5-0 in the second half, Washington Adventist scored one goal. However, it was not enough to prevail over the Statesmen. 

Assistant coach Meghan Mauzy claimed "The team is extremely excited to get after it and carry the same energy they've had all season into the playoffs."
