HOLMES, WASHINGTON SET TO COMPETE IN 2015 NJCAA INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

PETERSBURG, Va. – Two Statesmen, Joshua Washington (Woodbridge, VA) and Tia Holmes (Chesterfield, VA) will travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico to compete in the 2015 National Junior College Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, March 6th through Saturday, March 7th.

 

This is the first time Richard Bland has had two track and field athletes competing on the men's and women's side since the program began in 2013-14.

The Woodbridge, Va., native Washington has set the tone for RBC track and field since he set foot on campus. He made school history by becoming the first track and field athlete selected to Second-Team All-American in the 200-meter dash.

 

In last year's championship, Washington placed runner-up in the men's 200-meter dash bringing in a time of 21.14. He also finished tenth overall in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.87 with hopes of winning it all this time around.

 

For Holmes, it will be her first time competing in the championships. The Thomas Dale product qualified for nationals on Feb. 21 after setting a life-time best in the women's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.84.
