IN FOCUS: TRACK AND FIELD EDITION - SOPHOMORE ALL-AMERICAN JOSHUA WASHINGTON

"In Focus" is a weekly feature on RBCathletics.com that will highlight student-athletes from 11 intercollegiate athletic programs that make up "RBC Statesmen".

Each edition, RBC Athletic Communications Department chats with selected student-athletes from various programs to get inside their world and let us know a little more about them.

This edition features sophomore Joshua Washington of the men's track and field team. The Woodbridge, Va., native is a three-time All-American in the 60-meter, 100-meter and 200-meter dash.

Washington became the first Statesmen to represent Richard Bland College in Eugene Oregon on July 6, 2014. He finished sixth in the nation during that year.

With the 2015 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships right around the corner, Washington and his teammate Tia Holmes will be heading to Albuquerque, New Mexico for competition. He was nice enough to take the time out with sports information to give us a little more of an in-depth look at himself.

How did you decide RBC was the right place for you?

Richard Bland was the right decision for me because of the combination of school, track and its location. It's the only junior college in the state with a track and field team.

What is your personal goal this season and what are the team's goals for the season?

My personal goal is to become a national champion. The team goals are to have multiple national qualifiers and get every sophomore into a good school that's best suitable.

What was your favorite athletic moment at RBC thus far?

When I became runner-up in the indoors 200-meter dash held in New York City last year, that experienced proved what I was capable of to others and to myself. It was my biggest race of all time.

What's a fun fact that people may not know about you?

I'm addicted to tattoos, I have gotten four since I first set foot on campus.
