FINNIE, WASHINGTON EXCEL AT FRED HARDY INVITE

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richard Bland College track and field teams had three individual winners in the University of Richmond Fred Hardy Invitational on Saturday.

 

A native of Fredericksburg, Va., Marcus Finnie claimed his second consecutive win to dominate the men's long jump competition. Finnie posted a 6.98m despite the freezing cold weather.

 

Joshua Washington, a native of Woodbridge, Va., took two wins on the day in the men's 100 and 200 meter dash. Washington ran 10.80 to beat out his competition in the 100 meter and posted a time of 21.62 in the 200 meter.

 

Torry Miller (Chesterfield, VA) threw a lifetime best in the men's discus with a throw of 30.69, while Andrae McGowan (Hampton, VA) ran a lifetime best of 2:04.1 in the 800 meter dash and Auburn Bex (Newport News, VA) lowered her personal best by twelve seconds to 2:42.

 

Looking ahead, the Statesmen will travel to the Liberty Collegiate Invitational in Lynchburg, Va. Action is slated to begin at 1 p.m. on Friday and at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
