SOFTBALL READY FOR THE START OF FALL SEASON

Petersburg, VA, September 4, 2013- Although the spring season is almost six month's away, the Statesmen softball team will prepare with a challenging fall schedule. Richard Bland will be visiting several NCAA Division I teams throughout the state, which will include games against Longwood University, Virginia Tech, and Radford University.

The Statesmen are lead by head coach Martha Covington who prepped locally at Colonial Heights High School and played collegiately at Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC. The coaching staff includes Jennie Harp who played at Columbia Basin College (Pasco, WA) and former VCU standout Mike Ford who starred for the Rams during the 80's.

Richard Bland will open the fall season on September 21, 2013 at the Dinwiddie Sports Complex versus regional rival Patrick Henry Community College with games at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The Statesmen travel to Longwood on October 5th followed by Virginia Tech on October 13th and Radford University on October 19, 2013.
