RICHARD BLAND LOSSES TO RADFORD TO WRAP UP EXHIBITION SEASON

Radford, VA, October 19, 2013- Richard Bland travelled to Radford University to face the Highlanders for the final competition of the fall season. Despite the end result of the game, the Statesmen left another impression upon the NCAA Division I program.

Ayannah Bowman-Williams ripped a line drive double in the gap between center and right field in the first inning. Taylor Slate had the other hit in the game, a line drive straight up the middle to lead off th third inning and added a stolen base and a walk for her last at bat against Radford. Toria Arnett saw two quality at bats and was able to get on base with a walk, as well as, third baseman, Amberly Alston who took a hit-by-pitch.

Tara Heatwole was able to strike out seven Highlander hitters, while limiting her pitch count to 120 for the six innings. At the conclusion of the fall season, Head Coach Martha Covington is excited about the prospect of being a contender in the NJCAA Region X conference this spring.
