#10 STATESMEN SPLITS WITH SOUTHEASTERN-WHITEVILLE; ENDS WINNING STREAK

WHITEVILLE, NC, April 13, 2014-Richard Bland didn't provide Tara Heatwole with much support, but she didn't need much. Heatwole pitched seven strong innings to carry Richard Bland to a 2-0 win over Southeastern CC in seven innings on Sunday.

The Statesmen held Southeastern CC without a run while Tara was on the rubber. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on seven hits while ringing up eight.

Amberly Alstonreached base two times in the game for the Statesmen. She scored two runs and had one RBI. She homered in the sixth inning.

Robin Coleman took the loss for Southeastern CC. She lasted just seven innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed two runs.

Richard Bland didn't relinquish the lead after scoring one run in the fourth inning when it scored on.

GAME TWO

Seventh-inning lead change vaults Southeastern CC past Richard Bland, 3-2

The Statesmen lost the ballgame after losing the lead in the seventh inning Sunday, as Southeastern CC grabbed a 3-2 victory in seven innings.

Abbey Walters got the win for Southeastern CC. She allowed two runs over seven innings. Abbey struck out four, walked four and gave up five hits.

Tara Heatwole was the game's losing pitcher. She lasted just 6 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed three runs.

Neither team scored until the fourth when Richard Bland got on the board. The Statesmen got on the board thanks to an error.

Southeastern CC never surrendered the lead after the seventh inning, scoring two runs on an error.

The Statesmen are back in actionfor a double header on Friday, April 18, 2014 versus Division I Pitt Community College, in Greenville, NC.
