#11 STATESMEN DROPS DOUBLEHEADER ON ROAD TO DIVISION I PITT CC

GREENVILLE, NC, April 18, 2014-

Game One

Tara Heatwole did her best to change the outcome, but Tara couldn't lead RBC Statesmen past Pitt as RBC Statesmen lost 3-1 in seven innings on Friday.

Tara baffled Pitt, striking out six batters. Tara allowed three earned runs on five hits and no walks over six innings.

Jaimee Radel got it done on the rubber on the way to a win. She allowed one run over seven innings. She struck out nine, walked two and surrendered three hits.

Tara was charged with the loss.

The game was never in doubt after the second, as Pitt scored one run on a solo home run by Kayleigh Brueck.

Pitt increased its lead with two runs in the fourth. A double by Kayleigh ignited the offense,, bringing home Lindsay Parkin. That was followed up by Ansley Hill's single, scoring Kayleigh.

RBC Statesmen managed to score one run in the seventh inning on an RBI single by McKenzie Love.

Game Two

Despite four hits, RBC Statesmen lost 7-1 to Pitt on Friday.

Ansley Hill recorded the win for Pitt. She allowed one run over six innings. Ansley struck out four, walked none and gave up three hits.

McKenzie Love was charged with the loss. She allowed seven runs in six innings, walked two and struck out two.

The game was never in doubt after the first, as Pitt scored seven runs on an error, a fielder's choice, a sacrifice fly by Brittany Baker, and three singles.

RBC Statesmen's lone run of the ballgame came in the sixth inning on a fielder's choice.

The Statesmen (22-8) will play their final regular season double header at Florence-Darlington, Saturday, March 26 with a start time of 3:00 and 5:00 pm.
