SOFTBALL CONCLUDES FALL SEASON ON HIGH NOTE

PETERSBURG, Va. – The Richard Bland softball team wrapped up their 2014 fall season in three games against the Yellow Jackets of Randolph Macon this past Sunday.

The Statesmen finished strong as they only suffered a 2-0 setback in the first game and a 4-3 decision in the third game. Richard Bland would tie the second game at zero.

The team showed mental and physical growth from game one in fall season against Longwood to Sunday's 21 inning marathon which proved to be very evident and positive for the Statesmen.

"The girls are basically thrown to the wolves in the fall and how they learn and grow from those experiences is what is going to make us successful in the spring time and Region X competition," said head coach Martha Covington.

"I'm extremely proud of how the girls played throughout the entire fall and I have high expectations for them going into spring 2015."

The Statesmen will spend the next seven weeks working in the weight room and conditioning before their season opener at home against Harford Community College in a doubleheader. The first pitch is slated for noon.
