SOFTBALL FINALIZES 2015 SPRING SCHEDULE

PETERSBURG, Va. – Richard Bland College softball head coach Martha Covington has announced the Statesmen's 2015 spring schedule, including 20 home games at the Statesmen Softball Field.

 

After a program-best 24 wins and winning its first conference regular season championship last season. Richard Bland is looking for similar success with an equally challenging schedule in 2015. The Statesmen will play 14 non-conference games against some of the best teams in the nation on top of 20 conference games in the challenging Region X Conference.

 

RBC ended their season by making the most successful run in program history in the conference tournament. Richard Bland finished the season 24-11 overall and 15-5 in Region X competition.

 

The season will get started in Clearwater, Fla., when Richard Bland opens with a true road game against Northwest Florida State College on Friday, Jan. 30. The Statesmen will play also play Georgia Perimeter College at 12 noon, Pasco-Hernando State College at 4:20 p.m. and Gulf Coast State College at 6:20 p.m. in the JUCO Kickoff Classic.

 

Pasco-Hernando State is the only Division II team the Statesmen will play in the event.

 

RBC will stay in the south the following day and play three games in the Leadoff Classic. The Statesmen will matchup against Daytona State College at 9 a.m., following Tallahassee Community College at 1:20 p.m. and Polk State College at 3:20 p.m.

 

In February, the Statesmen will host Harford Community College in a doubleheader at 12 noon and 2 p.m. at Statesmen Field. RBC will play its first Region X conference game vs. Surry on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and Patrick Henry on Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

 

As the calendar turns to March the Statesmen will turn their focus to more conference play, featuring four two-game home series vs. Patrick Henry (March 6), Surry County (March 7), Southeaster Community (March 13)  and Wake Tech (March 25). RBC will hit the road for two-game stretches in non-conference play vs. the College of Saint Joseph (March 19-20) and Pitt (March 21).

 

Richard Bland will host one more conference game vs. Florence-Darlington Tech on April 11 and will finish off the regular season against Louisburg on April 15 following two road trips to CCBC Catonsville on April 18 and Southern Maryland on April 19.

 

The 2015 Region X Tournament will be held in Burlington, N.C. from May 1-2 with NJCAA World Series starting May 12-16 in Clinton, Mo.
