IN FOCUS: SOFTBALL EDITION – FRESHMAN KRISTIN SAUNDERS

"In Focus" is a weekly feature on RBCathletics.com that will highlight student-athletes from eleven intercollegiate athletic programs that make up "RBC Statesmen"

Each edition, RBC Athletic Communications intern chats with selected student-athletes from various programs to get inside their world and let us know a little more about them.

This edition features freshman Kristin Saunders of the softball team. The New Kent, Va., native has played in 15 games so far this season at RBC, she is averaging .364 at the plate and holds a 5-2 record in the pitching position with a 3.92 ERA clip.

With the season midway through, Saunders and her teammates are gearing up to finish the regular season and prepare for the Region X tournament. She was nice enough to take the time out with sports information intern to give us a little more of an in-depth look at herself.

1.       How did you decide RBC was the right place for you?

RBC was a perfect school because the classes are very small. The campus was very small and easy to find and it made me feel like I was at home.

My personal goal for the season is to become the Player of the Year and acquire looks from bigger schools after I graduate from RBC. The team goal is to go to the conference tournament and win it all to make it to the World Series in May.    

My favorite athletic moment would be when my teammate, Amanda Archer hit two home runs – that was the most exciting part of the season so far.

A fun fact that people might not know about me is that I love to do hair and makeup for others.
