No. 11 SOFTBALL TRAVELS TO CCBC CATONSVILLE FOR WEEKEND DH

PETERSBURG, Va. – The No. 11 Richard Bland College softball team is set to continue play in a weekend doubleheader at CCBC Catonsville on Saturday, April 18 for a nonconference matchup. The Statesmen most recently split against Division I Louisburg College on Wednesday, suffering a 6-5 setback during game one but clipping the Lady Hurricanes 7-6 in the nightcap for its final home game on the season.

The Cardinals (18-10 overall, 8-2 Region XX) are coming off a sweep at Hagerstown Community College (2-1, 11-1) on Wednesday.

 

Olivia Ravadge leads the team this season at the plate, averaging .595, 50 hits, and 40 RBI. Jess Dubbs bats .432 and has a team-best 38 runs. Bailey Rouk leads the pitching staff with a 2.73 ERA. Rouk has posted an 8-5 record in 14 games started and 15 appearances of the 28 games played.

 

The Statesmen (23-10 overall, 16-2 Region X) enter the contest on the road after hitting a combined 17 hits including one home run against Louisburg.

 

Amanda Archer (Amelia, VA) leads the team with a batting average of .393, including four home runs on the season. Taylor Slate (Emporia, VA) averages .374 at the plate and has a team-best 37 hits and 40 runs on the year. On the mound, Tara Heatwole (Williamsburg, VA) leads RBC pitching staff, posting a 11-4 record and holding a 2.13 ERA.

 

The Statesmen currently lead the series after earning two wins (13-4, 5-4) to sweep the Cardinals on March 9.
