BREAST CANCER AWARENESS GAME DONATES TO RELAY FOR LIFE

PETERSBURG, Va., (April 9, 2016) -- For the last six weeks, members of the Richard Bland College softball team have been selling pink Strike Out Cancer t-shirts as part of the teams Breast Cancer Awareness Game against Surry Community College.

All proceeds for the sale of the t-shirts were being donated to the American Cancer Society's branch organization Relay for Life. Prior to Saturday's game, the Statesmen presented Petersburg's Relay for Life with a donation of $2,000.

Director of Athletics Chuck Moore along with RBC President Dr. Debbie Sydow, and members of the Statesmen softball team posed with representatives of Relay for Life and an oversized check.

"We set an ambitious goal of the amount of t-shirts we wanted to sell to bring awareness to Breast Cancer Awaresness and the American Cancer Society," said Moore. "The ladies on the team surpassed that goal and then some, and as a result we are making a $2,000 donation. Being a part of the Petersburg and Tri-Cities community is very important to our Athletics Department and Richard Bland College, and I couldn't be prouder of our community service efforts."
