Richard Bland Signs Recruiting Class Of Six To Letters Of Intent

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College first-year softball head coach Katy Lampman has announced the signings of six incoming student-athletes to Letters of Intent. They include Skyler Bagnell/Ivor, Taylor Bilyard/Culpeper, Morgan Foy/Chesapeake, Allison Jarrett/Virginia Beach, Libby Hendrickson/Chesterfield and Kayla Shaffer/Henrico. The group will enter Richard Bland as freshman beginning with the 2017 fall semester.

"I am very excited about our 2017 signees," explained Lampman. "As a class, they bring a lot of power and strength both in the circle and at the plate. These student-athletes will be great additions to our team and our mission here at Richard Bland."

Bagnell is a shortstop at Southampton High School in Courtland. She is a power hitter from the right side with speed, according to Lampman.

"Skyler is a talented shortstop with great range," said Lampman. "She is a fun athlete to watch ... she loves to compete and has an infectious, positive attitude which makes her a great addition to our program."

Bilyard is an outfielder/third baseman at Culpeper County High School in Culpeper. She is another power hitter from the right side, according to Lampman.

"Taylor is an impressive power hitter and will make an immediate impact in the middle of our lineup," said Lampman. "She is one of the physically strongest high school athletes that I've ever watched play."

Foy is a left-handed pitcher/first baseman at Hickory High School in Chesapeake.

"Morgan is a tall lefty pitcher that has a ton of potential for success in the circle," said Lampman. "I am looking forward to seeing her pitch for us next year."

Jarrett is a middle infielder at Floyd E. Kellam High School in Virginia Beach. She is also a power hitter from the right side, according to Lampman.

"Allison has a ton of power at the plate and will challenge our returning middle infielders," said Lampman. "She will be an important part of our lineup."

Hendrickson is an outfielder at Lloyd C. Bird High School in Chesterfield. She is a slap hitter from the left side, according to Lampman.

"Libby brings a ton of talent and energy to the field," said Lampman. "She has a strong arm and is very versatile as an athlete. She is a lefty slapper with a great approach at the plate."

Shaffer is a right-handed pitcher at Mills E. Godwin High School in Richmond. She is a power hitter from the right side, as well, according to Lampman.

"I've known Kayla for a few years and have watched her mature both as a pitcher and a hitter," said Lampman. "She has great command of her pitches and possesses a great demeanor on the mound."

Richard Bland will open its 2017 campaign at the NJCAA JUCO Kickoff Classic January 27-29 in Clearwater, Florida.
