SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College will welcome Region 10 opponent Southeastern Community College-Whiteville (N.C.) for a softball doubleheader on Friday, March 10 at 2 p.m.  The Statesmen are 5-8 overall, 3-1 in Region 10, including a sweep of the Rams on February 17 (7-4, 4-2).  The Rams are 8-5-1 overall, 2-4 in Region 10.

Scouting the Statesmen
Richard Bland is 5-8 overall after splitting two games at the College of Southern Maryland on March 8 (3-11, 14-0).  The Statesmen are coached by head coach Katy Lampman, who is in her first season, while assisted by first-year assistant coaches Cassidy Clayton, Pete Berrios and Danielle Beverly.

Through 13 games, Richard Bland has been led offensively by freshman Brooklynn Bilyard/Culpeper, who is hitting .474 with two home runs, five doubles, 12 runs, 14 RBIs and six stolen bases.  Bilyard is followed by sophomore Tabby Dabney/Mechanicsville (.465, 3 HRs, 1 3B, 3 2Bs, 10 Rs, 15 RBIs, 2 SBs), freshman Taylor Daniel/Alberta (.400, 1 3B, 2 2Bs, 11 Rs, 2 RBIs, 2 SBs), sophomore August Ringer/Yale (.356, 8 Rs, 2 RBIs, 2 SB) and classmate Katelyn King/Chesterfield (.273, 3 2Bs, 9 Rs, 2 RBIs, 1 SB).

The Statesmen pitching staff has been led by sophomore Shannon Buffington/Virginia Beach, Brooklynn Bilyard and Tabby Dabney. Buffington is 2-4 with a 3.11 earned run average and 17 strikeouts over 36.0 innings with four complete games in six appearances.  Bilyard is 1-1 with a 3.50 earned run average and 13 strikeouts over 8.0 innings with one shutout and two complete games in two appearances.  Dabney is 2-2 with a 4.94 earned run average and 12 strikeouts over 28.1 innings with three complete games in six appearances.

Series History
Richard Bland leads the all-time series against Southeastern-Whiteville, 14-2, including the two wins last month among 12-straight wins against the Rams.  Tabby Dabney was 2-3 with two home runs and four RBIs, and Brooklynn Bilyard was 2-3 with a home run, double and three RBIs in the opener at Southeastern-Whiteville, while Shannon Buffington earned the complete-game pitching victory with four strikeouts and no walks.  August Ringer was 2-4 with an RBI and sophomore Morgan Whitley/Franklin was 2-4 in the nightcap against the Rams, while Dabney gained the complete-game pitching victory with four strikeouts and no walks.
