Richard Bland Announces Softball Sandlot Games, Camps & Clinics

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College softball head coach Katy Lampman has announced the dates for a series of summer sandlot games and day camps, as well as advanced power hitting, defensive and game concepts clinics to take place at the Statesman Softball Field.  The RBC Summer Sandlot Games will take place June 13 and June 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. each evening for girls ages eighth to 12 grades.  The RBC Lil' Statesmen Day Camps will take place July 24 and July 31 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day for girls ages six to 12 years old.  The RBC Advanced Power Hitting Clinic will take place July 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. for girls ages 12 years and older.   The RBC Advanced Defensive Clinic will take place July 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. for girls ages 12 years and older.  The RBC Advanced Power Hitting & Game Concepts Clinic will take place August 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. for girls ages 12 years and older.

RBC Advanced Softball Clinic Series (Click to Register)

Advanced Power Hitting Clinic |Tuesday July 18th | 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. | Ages: 12 and up
Increase power, improve bat speed, learn to dominate the plate with a better approach, and build on all of the fundamentals through fast-paced drills and a ballistic training system that is not available anywhere else in the RVA area!  All instruction will be done by college coaches. 

Advanced Defensive Clinic | Tuesday July 25th | 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. | Ages: 12 and up
This will be a progressive clinic beginning with detailed instruction and building into game speed drills designed to build efficient, clean, and quick defensive play.  We will also touch on arm care and proper throwing mechanics to help reduce injury risk.  All instruction will be done by college coaches.

Advanced Power Hitting & Game Concepts Clinic | Tuesday August 1st | 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. | Ages 12 and up
We will build on what we taught during the first hitting clinic of the series.  This clinic is designed to increase power, improve bat speed, teach a hitter's approach, improve the ability to make adjustments, and build on all of the fundamentals through fast-paced drills and a ballistic training system that is not available anywhere else in the RVA area!  We will also teach offensive game concepts through controlled scrimmages.  All instruction will be done by college coaches.

RBC Summer Sandlot Games Series (COMPLETED)
Summer Sandlot Games are pick-up softball games that will be played on the RBC Softball field. There will be a one-hour instructional warmup and then two hours of softball games played. Teams will be chosen upon arrival.  Come play, socialize, learn the game, and sharpen your instincts!  Teams will be coached and umpired by college coaches and college players.  Please wear softball game pants.

Must be 8th Grade – 12th Grade to participate
Players may sign up for a single night or the whole series. Cost: Total Series $40 | Single Game $25

June 20th 5 p.m. instructional warmup | 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. game

RBC Lil' Statesmen Softball Day Camp Series (CANCELED)
These camps are designed to teach the fundamentals of the game, build confidence in every athlete, expand game knowledge, and empower girls through competitions and fun drills. Campers will be grouped by age and skill level, and drills will be modified for every group.  Every camper will receive a camp t-shirt for attending.  Every camp will include: Defensive Positional Breakdowns, Hitting, Base-running, Proper Throwing Mechanics, Pitching & Catching, Scrimmages, Fun Games & Competitions.

Ages 6 – 12 | 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Cost: Total Series $150 | Single Day Camp $75
Day Camp 1: Monday July 24th
Day Camp 2: Monday July 31st

What to bring to camp: A packed lunch, snacks, water bottle, glove, bat, cleats, tennis shoes, catching gear (if applicable), face mask (if needed), batting helmet, sunscreen, a towel, and a great attitude!
