Richard Bland Reschedules This Weekend's Season-Opening Games

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- The season-opening Richard Bland College softball games scheduled for this weekend, February 16-17, at the Statesman Softball Field have been canceled due to wet field conditions and additional wet weather in the forecast.

The Statesmen were scheduled to host NJCAA Division I Harford (Md.) on Friday, Feb. 16, but that doubleheader has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m.

Richard Bland was scheduled to host NJCAA Division II Hagerstown (Md.) on Saturday, Feb. 17, and that doubleheader has not yet been rescheduled.

Richard Bland finished 2017 with an overall record of 25-21, including 16-8 in Region 10, while advancing to the post-season Region 10 Tournament Championship for only the second time in program history.  The Statesmen placed four individuals on the All-Region 10 Team, and established new program records for games (46), batting average (.374), at bats (1356), runs (384), hits (507), home runs (29), doubles (104), RBIs (320), total bases (732), slugging percentage (.540) and on base percentage (.436).  The 25 wins are the second-most in program history.

Richard Bland is led by second-year head coach Katy Lampman, assisted this year by first-year assistant coaches Danielle Thacker and Troy Jacobs.
