Richard Bland Hosting 10 Games In 10 Days Between April 4-13

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland is scheduled to host 10 upcoming softball games in 10 days at the Statesman Softball Field, including five doubleheaders between April 4-13.  The Statesmen will welcome non-region opponent Stratford University on Wednesday, April 4, at 4 p.m., followed by NJCAA Region 10 members Surry (N.C.) on Friday, April 6, at 2 p.m., Patrick Henry on Saturday, April 7, at 12 p.m., Bryant & Stratton on Wednesday, April 11, at 3 p.m. and Pitt (N.C.) on Friday, April 13, at 3 p.m.  Admission is free to all home softball contests.

Richard Bland is currently 15-8 overall, including 5-7 in Region 10, while coached by second-year head coach Katy Lampman.  Coach Lampman is assisted by first-year assistant coaches Danielle Thacker and Troy Jacobs.  The Statesmen have won four out of their last five games.

Through 23 games, Richard Bland has been led offensively by sophomores Ashley Fritz/Chesterfield (.414, 2 HRs, 2 3Bs, 6 2Bs, 22 RBS) and Kay'Lee Justice/Suffolk (.394, 2 HRs, 4 2Bs, 19 RBIs), freshmen Taylor Bilyard/Culpeper (.388, 1 HR, 1 3B, 8 2Bs, 24 RBIs) and Mary Simms/Orange (.385, 4 HRs, 1 3B, 8 2Bs, 20 RBIs), along with sophomores Kara Morris/Kents Store (.382, 2 HRs, 1 3B, 4 2Bs, 17 RBIs) and Brooklynn Bilyard/Culpeper (.373, 2 HRs, 6 3Bs, 2 2Bs, 20 RBIs).  Among those with significantly fewer at-bats are freshmen Katie Haney/Burkeville (.429, 1 HR, 1 3B, 5 2Bs, 9 RBIs) and Skyler Bagnall/Ivor (.421, 1 3B, 6 RBIs, as well as sophomore Kamryn Lanier/Chester (.389, 2 2Bs, 8 RBIs).  The team is hitting .368 with 14 home runs, 13 triples, 44 doubles and 165 RBIs, while scoring 8.1 runs per game.

In the circle, the Statesmen have been led by freshmen Megan Vincent/Boykins (4-3, 2.91 ERA, 45.2 IP, 45K, 1 save) and Joana Holland/Manassas (4-1, 3.09 ERA, 31.2 IP, 31K), along with Brooklynn Bilyard (5-2, 6.36 ERA, 47.1 IP, 59K).  The team ERA is 4.53 with 148 strikeouts over 139.0 innings.

Following this extended homestand, Richard Bland will play at NJCAA Division I Louisburg on Sunday, April 15, at 1 p.m. in North Carolina.
