Brent Leads the Way as Women’s Basketball Closes out Fall Semester Against Bobcats

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team traveled to Bryant & Stratton College (VA) Wednesday evening for their final outing of the fall 2024 semester. After completion of the conference contest, the Statesmen moved to 3-9 overall, 3-6 in conference play.

 

Wednesday evening, the Bobcats took charge immediately, only allow the Statesmen to score five points through the first period. The Statesmen found their groove and added 15 in the second, to trail 20-38 at the break. Bryant & Stratton added 18 in the final two frames, while the Statesmen added 14 and 21, but it was not enough for Richard Bland to overcome the early deficit, as they dropped the conference contest 55-74.

 

Aryauna Brent led the way for the Statesmen with 26 points, two assists, two steals, and one block. DaNiya McClure tallied 12 points, two assists, and one rebound, while Khamaya Earley had six points and three rebounds. Ni'Ana Hill chipped in with five points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals, and Keimare Gray added eight rebounds, four pints, and two steals in the loss. Mya Mewborn added two rebounds and Ava Meanor one on the night.

 

Richard Bland shot 43.5% from the field, 45.5% from the perimeter, and 76.9% from the charity stripe.

 

The Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team is set to open the spring 2025 semester on Saturday, January 11th at Cleveland Community College at 1pm. The Statesmen will play back-to-back, and take on Catawba Valley Community College on Sunday, January 12th with tip-off scheduled for 1pm.
