COLE IMPROVING PLAY AT NJCAA WOMEN'S GOLF NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (May 18, 2016) – While rain suspended play on the second day of competition at the 2016 NJCAA Women's Golf National Championships on Tuesday, it did not dampen the improving play of Richard Bland College freshman golfer Anna Carole Cole.

After a trying first day on Monday, Cole was in decidedly better form on Tuesday, improving by 17 strokes in second round play, the best among the individual players in the championship field. Cole shot a 48-48-96 on Tuesday. Second round play concluded late Wednesday morning, with third round competition immediately following.

"Anna found her game on Tuesday," said Richard Bland College head golf coach Shawn Holt. "There were a few unlucky bounces and some tough hazards, but overall she had a great bounce back round."

The NJCAA Women's Golf Championships continue on Wednesday and Thursday. Daytona State College, which is also serving as the host school, leads the team competition by 13 strokes over McLennan C.C. Ji Sun Kang of Daytona State (72-67-139) holds a one-stroke lead over Roanne Tomlinson of McLennan (71-69-140) in the individual competition.
