COLE RELISHES OPPORTUNITY TO COMPETE AT NJCAA GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

DAYTONA BEACH, FL., (May 20, 2016) – Many athletes enjoy exceptional careers, full of success and accolades – individual and team – but the opportunity to compete for a National Championship is a rare occurrence. Regardless of the outcome, playing in a national championship event creates memories that remain etched in personal scrapbooks for a lifetime.

For Richard Bland College freshman golfer Anna Carole Cole, her qualification into the 2016 NJCAA Women's National Golf Championship was an tremendous achievement. As one of Region X Conference's top ten finishers, Cole punched a ticket to compete in the NJCAA National Championships at the LPGA International course in Daytona Beach, Florida, and was was given to opportunity test her game against the nation's premier NJCAA golfers.

Two days of heavy rain played havoc with the course and the fourth and final round was unable to be completed. Throughout the four days of competition, Cole had her ups and downs, but wouldn't trade the experience playing at the national championships for anything.

"Being able to play in the NJCAA Women's National Championships was an honor and an experience of a lifetime," Cole said. "I would like to thank Richard Bland College and my head coach Shawn Holt for this incredible opportunity."

Said Holt, "The NJCAA National Championships was a great experience for Anna. We'll take away some negatives, but a lot more positives and even more memories."

Host Daytona State won the team championship with a cumulative 876 score, 25 strokes lower than runner up Seminole (FL) State. Individually, Ji Sun Kang of Daytona State was the top finisher, shooting a three-day round of 876 (72-67-68), 12 strokes lower than runner up Roanne Romlinson of McLennan.
