Anna Carole Cole, Kenedi Byard Qualify For National Tournament

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -- Richard Bland College sophomore Anna Carole Cole/Halifax posted a 36-hole score of 90-99--189, and freshman Kenedi Byard/Chesterfield added a 101-92--193, to finished eighth and ninth, respectively, at the Region 10 Women's Golf Championship Saturday and Sunday at the Southern Pines Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina.  Cole and Byard each qualified for the 2017 NJCAA Women's Golf Championship to be played May 15-18 at the Chateau Elan Golf Club in Braselton, Georgia.

Cole, who also advanced to the national tournament last year, and Byard qualified this year while finishing among the top 10 in the field of 12 individuals at the Region 10 event played at the 5,785-yard, par 72 layout designed by renowned golf course architect Donald Ross.  Sophomore Savannah Porter/Midlothian (120-119--239) also competed and finished 12th

Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.) College won the Region 10 team title with its 333-348--681, and SMC's Megan Thompson was the individual medalist with her 80-85--165.  The Pioneers had three of the five All-Region honorees, while the other two All-Region selections compete for Sandhills (N.C.) Community College.
