TRACK AND FIELD JOURNEYS TO LIBERTY AND WILLIAM & MARY THIS WEEKEND

PETERSBURG, Va. – The Richard Bland College track and field team will split into two groups this weekend as majority of the squad travels to the Liberty Collegiate Invitational on Friday-Saturday, April 3-4, while the other group heads to the William & Mary Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William & Mary  on Friday.

A total of 14 institutions will be competing at Liberty while 2,500 athletes from high schools, college, clubs and post-collegiate ranks will be competing at William & Mary.

Last time out, Richard Bland competed at the prestigious Fred Hardy Invitational last weekend, March 27-28, and saw a few of its individuals establish a number of new personal records and victories at the meet.

Joshua Washington (Woodbridge, VA) ran a best 10.80 in the men's 100 meter dash to beat out his competition while winning the 200 meter with a time of 21.62. Marcus Finnie (Fredericksburg, VA) took home the men's long jump for his second consecutive victory on the season. He posted a 6.98 in the freezing cold weather.

Torry Miller (Chesterfield, VA) threw a lifetime best in the men's discus with a throw of 30.69, while Andrae McGowan (Hampton, VA) ran a lifetime best of 2:04.1 in the 800 meter dash and Auburn Bex (Newport News, VA) lowered her personal best by twelve seconds to 2:42.
