WASHINGTON WINS 100 METER DASH AT LIBERTY INVITE
 

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Richard Bland College track and field team racked up one victory and at least 10 events in the top ten finish in the final day of competition at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational at the Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex. Sprinter Joshua Washington (Woodbridge, VA) won the men's 100 meter dash and finished second in the men's 200 meter dash.

 

Washington came in first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.66 and 21.76 in the 200 meter dash. Oliver Smith (Glen Allen, VA) earned a tenth place finish in the 100 meter dash with a record time of 11.34, while Terrelle Robinson (Ashland, VA) placed tenth overall in the 400 meter dash with a finishing time of 52.66 and Andrae McGowan (Hampton, VA) placed seventh in the 800 meter at 2:02.63.

 

On the field, Marcus Finnie (Fredericksburg, VA) finished fifth in the men's long jump with a jump of 6.80m.

 

For women's, Tia Holmes (Chesterfield, VA) earned a sixth place finish in the women's 100 meter dash with a time of 12.49, she also placed ninth in the long jump at 5.23m. Evan Wagner (Gloucester, VA) finished seventh in the high jump for the Statesmen.

 

Richard Bland will return to action April 11 when they head to Fairfax, Va., for the George Mason University Spring Invitational.
