Richard Bland Adding Women's Volleyball As Its Seventh Sport

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College is adding women's volleyball as the College's newest sport, announced Director of Athletics Chuck Moore.  The Statesmen will begin competition within NJCAA Division II, Region 10 during the upcoming fall of 2017.  The sport addition provides Richard Bland student-athletes the opportunity to compete in three women's sports (golf, softball, volleyball) and three men's sports (basketball, golf, soccer).

"It's always an exciting time at Richard Bland when we are able to expand our sports and offer another very competitive team," said Moore.  "Women's volleyball should add a great dynamic to the rest of our athletic department as we continue to recruit outstanding student-athletes that will contribute not only on the court but in the classroom."

NJCAA Region 10 currently has 12 schools competing in Division II women's volleyball.  They include Virginia school Bryant & Stratton College, North Carolina schools Brunswick Community College, Catawba Valley Community College, Cape Fear Community College, Guilford Technical Community College, Lenoir Community College, Louisburg College, Pitt Community College, Surry Community College and Wake Technical Community College, along with South Carolina schools USC Lancaster and USC Salkehatchie.

Richard Bland is currently conducting a search for its first women's volleyball head coach.  If interested, please visit the job posting at www.rbc.edu.
