Richard Bland Falls To Macomb (Mich.) 3-0

NORFOLK, Va. -- Richard Bland College fell to Macomb (Mich.) Community College, 3-0, in women's volleyball Friday night in Norfolk.  Sophomore Alexis Lyons/Prince George led the Statesmen (0-2) with 17 assists and two service aces, while freshman Emma Eggleton/Chesterfield added five kills, four blocks and eight digs, and classmate Cassi Jencik/Midlothian contributed four kills, four blocks and three digs against the Monarch (3-10), who took the sets by scores of 25-23, 25-12 and 25-21 at a tournament hosted by Bryant & Stratton College.  Richard Bland will play two matches during the event on Saturday, September 16, including against Catawba Valley (N.C.) Community College at 10 a.m. and host Bryant & Stratton at 2 p.m.

"We played well tonight, stronger than in our opening match on Monday," said first-year head coach Scott Newton.  "We are definitely heading in the right direction.  I'm looking forward to seeing the progress tomorrow against Catawba Valley and Bryant & Stratton."
