Richard Bland Hosting Pitt (N.C.) On Saturday At Noon

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College welcomes Region X East Division member Pitt (N.C.) Community College in women's volleyball action on Saturday, October 14, at 12 p.m. in Statesman Hall.  The first-year Statesmen program currently has a record of 2-12 overall, including a 1-2 mark at home this season.  Pitt has an overall record of 15-8, including 7-5 in Region X.

Scouting the Statesmen
Richard Bland is 2-12 overall following the program's first road win at Regent University (25-12, 25-23, 25-20) on Oct. 10 in Virginia Beach.  The Statesmen are coached by first-year head coach Scott Newton, and assisted by first-year assistant coach Immogen Worthington

Richard Bland has been led by freshman Emma Eggleton/Chesterfield with a team-best 80 kills, adding 76 digs, 66 assists, 34 blocks and seven service aces.  She is joined by sophomore Alexis Lyons/Prince George with a team-best 177 assists, adding 76 digs, 33 kills, 23 blocks and 12 service aces, freshman Kendall Clark/Virginia Beach with a team-best 147 digs and 14 service aces, adding 18 kills and eight assists, along with classmate Cassi Jencik/Midlothian with a team-best 35 blocks, adding 39 kills, 14 digs and two assists.  Others include freshmen Hollie Hill/Buchanan (50 kills, 59 digs, four blocks, one assist), Taylor Laxton/Wakefield (43 kills, 30 digs, 29 blocks, one assist), Caitlin Stout/Dinwiddie (145 digs, 15 kills, six blocks, six assists) and Avery Munden/Chesterfield (45 digs, nine kills, one block, one assist).  Clark, Jencik and Laxton each have played in a team-best 46 sets.

Series History
Richard Bland and Pitt are meeting for the second time in the sport of women's volleyball.  The two teams met last month on September 18 in Winterville, North Carolina where the Bulldogs won 3-0 by set scores of 25-17, 25-7 and 25-20.

Richard Bland will complete its inaugural season with four matches next week against Region X opponents, beginning on the road at East Division Lenoir (N.C.) Community College on Monday, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m. in Kinston, North Carolina.  The Statesmen play their final home contest against East Division Bryant & Stratton College on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. in Statesman Hall on Sophomore Night for Alexis Lyons, Sara Gardner/Chester and McKenzi Thorne/Chester.  Richard Bland concludes its campaign with a pair of matches at Wake Technical (N.C.) Community College on Friday, Oct. 20 in Raleigh, North Carolina … versus West Division Surry (N.C.) Community College at 4:30 p.m. and against West Division Wake Tech at 6 p.m.
