Richard Bland Welcomes Bryant & Stratton On Sophomore Night

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College welcomes Region X East Division Bryant & Stratton College in women's volleyball action on Tuesday, October 17, at 6 p.m. in Statesman Hall.  The first-year Statesmen program currently has a record of 2-13 overall, including a 1-3 mark at home this season.  Lenoir has an overall record of 8-5, including 7-4 in Region X.  It's the final home match this season and is Sophomore Night for Alexis Lyons/Prince George, Sara Gardner/Chester and McKenzi Thorne/Chester

Scouting the Statesmen
Richard Bland had a 2-13 record prior to a road match at East Division Lenoir (N.C.) Community College on Monday night, Oct. 16, in Kinston, North Carolina.  The Statesmen are coached by first-year head coach Scott Newton, and assisted by first-year assistant coach Immogen Worthington.

Richard Bland has been led by freshman Emma Eggleton/Chesterfield with a team-best 81 kills and 36 blocks, adding 80 digs and 71 assists.  She is joined by Alexis Lyons with a team-best 182 assists, adding 76 digs, 36 kills, 25 blocks and 12 service aces, freshman Caitlin Stout/Dinwiddie with a team-best 151 digs, adding 15 kills, six assists and six blocks, along with classmate Kendall Clark/Virginia Beach with a team-best 14 service aces, adding 149 digs, 18 kills and eight assists.  Others include freshmen Hollie Hill/Buchanan (50 kills, 60 digs, four blocks, one assist), Taylor Laxton/Wakefield (46 kills, 32 digs, 31 blocks, one assist), Cassi Jencik/Midlothian (40 kills, 35 blocks, 18 digs, two assists) and Avery Munden/Chesterfield (49 digs, 11 kills, one block, one assist).  Clark, Jencik and Laxton each have played in a team-best 49 sets.

Series History
Richard Bland and Bryant & Stratton are meeting for the third time in the sport of women's volleyball.  The two teams have already met two times this season with the Bobcats winning both matches by scores of 3-1.  The set scores on September 16 in Norfolk were 18-25, 18-25, 25-23 and 14-25.  The set scores on Sept. 30 in Bolivia, North Carolina were 11-25, 17-25, 25-21 and 12-25.
