Volleyball Hangs Tough Against Top Competition at Virginia State

PETERSBURG, VA -- The Richard Bland College of William and Mary women's volleyball team finished with a 1-3 record in tournament play held at Virginia State University on Friday and Saturday. Each of the Statesmen's four matches was played against NCAA Division II opponents. 

Richard Bland is now 4-4 on the season, while holding a 2-1 record against NJCAA opponents. 

The Friday's first match against Alderson Broaddus was a back and forth battle between both squads. Richard Bland dropped a tough one losing in five sets, 2-3 (14-25, 25-21, 13-25, 25-23, 13-15).

In RBC's second match on Friday against St. Augustine's University, the Statesmen started strong and never relented, sweeping in three sets (25-9, 25-19, 25-15).

The first match on Saturday against Mount Olive, RBC suffered a 3-0 setback.

Saturday's competition concluded with a big match against host Virginia State. RBC battled heartily in the second and third sets, but fell 14-25, 25-27, 25-27.
