Statesmen Sweep Lenoir In Three Sets

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary women's volleyball team defeated Lenoir Community College in three straight sets (25-16, 25-13, 25-20) on Tuesday night at Statesmen Hall.

With the victory, RBC improves to 11-4 on the season, and is undefeated in the Region X play with an 8-0. The Statesmen are 10-1 with the NJCAA competition. The Statemen look to continue their seven-match winning streak on the road playing in a tri-match against Harford and Community College of Rhode Island.

Against Lenoir, Harper Smith led the way with 13 kills and three blocks. She was joined by Heather Phelps with 7 kills and 3.5 blocks, and Lauryn Basl with 33 assists.

"This was a good night for us," said head coach Scott Newton. "We needed this solid play to get back in rhythm for the matches we have coming up. Hopefully we can continue this momentum and will be hitting our stride as we go into playoffs."
