PINEHURST, NC -- The Women's Volleyball team of Richard Bland College of William & Mary fought back and won 3-1 against Sandhills Community College after dropping the first set in a high-energy contest.

The Statesmen women now stand at 4-6 on the season in the midst of a 5-game stretch starting Friday, September 20, against divisional foe, Spartanburg Methodist, home at 4 pm.

Richard Bland started off the game sluggish and would lose the first set to the Flyers of Sandhills.  Coming out for the second set, the outside hitters for the Statesmen came alive and led the team to a score of 25-16.  That trend would continue in the third and fourth sets as the Statesmen would win both, 25-22 & 25-21.

The two outside attackers totaled 45 of the 53 kills on the day.  Ayanna Swan finished with 26 kills, 3 aces, & 4 digs while her counterpart, Emma Lazerson, piled on 19 kills, 2 aces, & 3 digs.  The two would have never been able to put up those numbers if it was not for Anna Ney feeding them the ball time and time again.  Ney finished with 44 assists & 4 aces.
