CLEMENTS BRINGS A BIG BAT TO RBC LINEUP

PETERSBURG, VA., (April 11, 2016) – The big bat in the heart of the Richard Bland College softball lineup belongs to sophomore Whitney Clements, who displayed her hitting prowess this past weekend by banging out two triples – one in each game – against Region X Conference opponent Surry Community College.

Clements had a solid doubleheader, going 4-for-7 in the two games, belting out the two triples, with two runs scored and an RBI.

For her performance, Clements is the Student-Athlete of the Week, the second time this season he has garnered the award. She previously won the award following her seven games at the JUCO Kickoff Classic where she hit .435, going 10 for 23 at the plate.

On the season, Clements is second the team in scoring with a .364 average. She leads the team in on base percentage (.556), is tied in RBI with 16 and ranks second in hits with 32

Clements is a 2014 graduate of Prince George High School in Prince George, VA, where she earned four varsity letters in softball. She was an All-Conference selection all four years and earned All-Region accolades her sophomore and junior years. Most impressively, she was an All-State selection as a senior.

The Statesmen (13-15, 9-3), will be back in action on Friday, April 15, playing Region X opponent Wake Tech on Sophomore Day starting at 3 pm.
