DEAN-MCBRIDE SHINES IN DEBUT GAME

PETERSBURG, Va., (Jan. 8, 2016) -- Gerard Dean-McBride waited 14 games before making his debut for the Richard Bland College basketball team.

On Friday, Jan.8 against Division I Walters State C.C., the Richmond native who played a season at Virginia Union before coming to RBC, turned in an impressive performance that earned him RBC Student-Athlete of the Week honors.

Dean-McBride, a 6-0 guard, led the Statesmen in scoring with 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. He added five assists and four rebounds and two steals in 27 minutes of action. 

The Statesmen, 8-7, fell to Walters State 98-78. Richard Bland returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 8 hosting rival Louisburg at Statesmen Hall at 7:00 p.m.

The contest is the Blackout game in which fans are encouraged to wear black to the contest. There will be a pregame cookout behind Statesmen Hall, free t-shirts to the first 50 fans, contests at halftime and a after party at the Statesmen cafe.
