The Statesmen Highlight Reel : Taylor Green

Richard Bland College Softball is experiencing a resurgence this season under new head coach, Joe Braun, and one of the main driving forces behind this team is Sophomore pitcher/outfielder, Taylor Green.

Richard Bland College softball entered week three of the 2025 season this week sitting at 1-3 overall, 0-0 in conference play after opening the season with a split at Surry Community College, and dropping two to NCAA Division II opponent, Elizabeth City State University.

Richard Bland dropped their season opener in a 12-13 extended inning battle with the Knights, and rebounded to grab a 10-4 victory in the night cap. Against the Vikings, the Statesmen battled back and forth, with multiple lead changes, dropping the first game of the doubleheader 6-9, and the second 5-7.

The Suffix, Virginia native, has started all four games this season and leads the pitching staff with 14 innings pitched. She has a 1-1 record, with two starts in complete games on the mound. Green has allowed 11 runs on 13 hits, struck out 13, and walked five. She currently holds the lowest ERA with 2.50.

Green has made 15 plate appearances with five hits, including one double and one triple, four runs batted in, three runs scored herself, and one walk for a .333 batting average and a .375 on base percentage. In the outfield, Taylor has recorded three putouts and one assist for the Statesmen.

Green’s impact can be felt in every aspect of the game. She will be looked at to continue leading and producing for the 11th year softball program, for the remainder of the season.
