Beach Volleyball Opens Season at Lynchburg
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College beach volleyball team opened the season 1-1 overall after traveling to the University of Lynchburg Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader match-up.
In match one, the Statesmen pairs dropped a 2-3 loss to the Hornets.
Pair 1: Sarah Heath and Rylie Harris fell 16-21 and 18-21 to the Hornets.
Pair 2: Karagyn Durco and Leilani Goggin fell 10-21 and 16-21 to the Hornets.
Pair 3: Sophia Kaiser and Jadyn Brown defeated the Hornets 21-14 and 24-22.
Pair 4: Sydney Phillips and Morgan Green defeated the Hornets 21-19 and 21-11.
Pair 5: Georgia Alexander and Marisa Dunnavent fell to the Hornets 17-21, 21-10, and 6-15.
In match two, the Statesmen pairs outlasted the Hornets overall with a 3-2 victory.
Pair 1: Sarah Heath and Rylie Harris fell 17-21, 21-10, and 4-15.
Pair 2: Sophia Kaiser and Jadyn Brown fell 14-21 and 8-21.
Pair 3: Karagyn Durco and Leilani Goggin defeated the Hornets 21-18 and 21-19.
Pair 4: Sydney Phillips and Morgan Green defeated the Hornets 14-21, 21-16, and 16-14.
Pair 5: Georgia Alexander and Jordan May defeated the Hornets 12-21, 21-11, and 15-12.
The Richard Bland College beach volleyball team next travels to Bryant & Stratton College (VA) on Friday, February 24th for a two day tournament. The Statesmen will face Wake Tech Community College at 2pm. On Saturday, February 25th the Statesmen will face Gaston College at 9am, Stevenson University at 11am, and Bryant & Stratton at 2pm.
