Four Statesmen Named NJCAA Beach Volleyball All-Americans

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The NJCAA announced the Beach Volleyball All-American Teams earlier this week, and the pairings of Leilani Goggin and Alexis Scipione, and Phoebe Heath and Peyton Ostenson, have been named to the list.
The Statesmen #2 pairing of Goggin and Scipione were named 1st Team Doubles All-Americans, while the #5 pairing of Heath and Ostenson were named 2nd Team Doubles All-Americans.
Both pairings helped the team achieve a 25-13 overall record during the 2024 season, including a Region 10 Championship title, and being named NJCAA National Runner-Up. In the semifinals of the Region Tournament, Goggin and Scipione defeated the Pioneers, to help advance the team to the Championship. In the Championship, Heath and Ostenson played a key role in the Statesmen taking down Sandhills Community College, 3-0, earning an automatic bid to the NJCAA National Tournament.
On day one of pool play at Nationals, both pairings went 2-0 on the day, defeating the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton College (WI) and the Manatees of State College of Florida, while the team split the day 1-1. On day two of pool play, both pairings once again went 2-0 on the day, setting up the Statesmen for a full day of Championship play. Goggin and Scipione went 2-1 on Championship bracket day, and Heath and Ostenson 2-0, not finishing their dual against Palm Beach State in the National Championship. The entire team was named the NJCAA National Runner-Up for the 2024 season.
