Baseball Drops Tight Battle with Bobcats

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Baseball team moves to 13-12 overall, 8-9 in conference play after traveling to Bryant & Stratton College (VA) Tuesday afternoon for a single, nine-inning conference game with the Bobcats.

 

In the game, Richard Bland got on the board first in the third inning, scoring three runs. Macho Santiago started the scoring doubling on a line drive to right field, allowing Reece Hamilton to score to take the 1-0 lead. Jordan Ramsey singled on a pop fly to center, scoring Michael Duncan, and Santiago scored stealing home, to lead 3-0 after the third inning. The Bobcats got on the board with one run in the bottom of the fourth. The scored remained in favor fo the Statesmen through the top of the eighth. In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Bobcats put three runs on the board, closing the game 3-4 over the Statesmen.

 

Keegan Mahoney started the game on the hill. Mahoney lasted four innings allowing one run on five hits, walking one and striking out two. Darren Osborne, Dylan Jones, and Jackson Hulcher all came in in relief.

 

The Richard Bland College baseball team next travels to Pitt Community College on Saturday, April 6th for a doubleheader with the Bulldogs, beginning at 1pm. Game three of the series is est for Sunday, April 7th at 12pm.
