Statesmen Fall to Bobcats After Surrendering Big Third Inning

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Baseball team moves to 14-15 overall, 9-12 in conference play after hosting the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton College (VA) for a single, seven-inning game Wednesday afternoon.

 

Bryant & Stratton College defeated the Statesmen 4-12, thanks in part to nine runs in the third inning. Richard Bland got on the board in the first inning after Jordan Ramsey hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Bryant & Stratton flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring nine runs on seven hits to take a 1-9 lead. The Bobcats scored one run in the top of the fourth on a solo home run to center field.

 

Richard Bland accumulated 11 hits in the game. Eric Fila led the Statesmen with three hits in four at bats. Ramsey, Fila, Jaden Groome, and Macho Santiago each drove in one run for Richard Bland.

 

Andrew Bottari opened the game for the Statesmen. The righty gave up seven hits and seven runs over two and one-third innings, striking out three and walking three.

 

The Richard Bland College baseball team next hosts Southeastern Community College-Whiteville on Saturday, April 13th and Sunday, April 14th in the three-game conference series. Games one and two will take place on Saturday beginning at 12pm, and game three is set for Sunday at 12pm.
