#1 STATESMEN ROLLS OVER CATAWBA VALLEY TO CLAIM 15th STRAIGHT WIN

PETERSBURG, VA, February 15, 2014-Melvin Gregory paced the Statesmen with 22 points connecting on four three point baskets in their win over conference foe Catawba Valley Community College (13-13, 7-7 Region X) 85-65.

Richard Bland (23-1, 12-1 Region X) never trailed against the Buccaneers as they were up by as many as 30 points in the second half of the game. Along with Gregory's performance Tavon Mealy added 12 points and Avery Ugba tossed in 11 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for the Statesmen. Catawba Valley was led by Jamarkus Eison who poured in 18 points and Tydus Parks with nine.

The Statesmen will host the Lancers of Lenoir Community College on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 for a 6:00 pm tip-off.
